Mumbai hosts global meet on how good accountancy boosts growth

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has hosted an international conference on Accountancy Profession: Enablers of Economic growth at Mumbai to dwell deeper into the emerging paradigm of the accountancy profession and deliberate on issues of emerging significance. The conference saw the participation of over 1100 stakeholders from across the globe.
The conference was inaugurated by Minister of Law & Justice Dr Ashwani Kumar in the presence of ICAI President Jaydeep Narendra Shah and Vice-President Subodh Kumar Agrawal.
It was an assimilation of learned resources in areas of governance, financial engineering, regulatory compliance, corporate social responsibility, emerging paradigms of technical standards and related issues out of current and emerging context and.
ICAI, recognising its role and responsibilities in the changing global economy has been instrumental in providing quality education and continuous professional education to its members.
The accountancy function continues to play a strategic role of providing value added services to the stakeholders and takes key leadership roles to guide their organizations, as creators, enablers, preservers, and reporters of sustainable value, through the process of embedding sustainability deep within an economy and as have its roots linked to the financial information.
The conference dwelled on several important economic topics.
