The standing committee of North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday cleared a 400 bed multi-disciplinary hospital at Haiderpur in Rohini, which will cost Rs 596.86 crore. The corporation is also working towards upgrading its services in existing hospitals towards multi-disciplinary category facility. This is done to match facilities available at private hospitals.
‘We will provide air condition wards in our state-of-the-art hospitals to the poor on very nominal fees. These hospitals would be equipped with all the facilities of diagnosis and treatment,’ said Mayank Sharma, additional commissioner (health) of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).
The project has been placed before the standing committee for approval. The proposed hospital will be constructed on a 7.5 acre vacant land near an old ayurvedic hospital in Haiderpur, in ward number 54 in Rohini.
‘Facilities in these hospitals will be akin to those available in five star hospitals,’ said Sharma. ‘The corporation is already running a medical college and this hospital will add feathers to the health facilities we are providing to citizens. This will also contain the unavailability of beds in government hospitals, which are already overburdened,’ said Ram Kishan Singhal, chairman of the standing committee approving the project.
As per the proposal, the 13-storey hospital with two level basements for parking will be constructed on environmental norms and it will be equipped with CCTV surveillance.
