MP Supriyo to lay foundation for ESI hospital extension

MoS for Urban Development and Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Babul Supriyo will lay <g data-gr-id="14">foundation</g> for extension of ESI hospital from the existing 100 to 150 beds on Tuesday. Moloy Ghatak, minister in charge, Labour and ESI Department in West Bengal government will be the chief guest.
Other dignitaries invited for the function are Rajya Sabha MP D <g data-gr-id="13">Bandoyopadhyay</g>, Member of ESI Corporation Dilip Bhattacharya and Prasanta Nandi Chowdhury and regional director, ESIC, Kolkata Chinmay Bose.
In order to provide social security benefits and best medical services to the insured persons of Asansol, the ESIC has decided to take this step. The construction cost for the extension of the hospital will be Rs 50 crore. The ESI Scheme was first implemented at two Centres in West Bengal on August 14, 1955, and thereafter, the scheme was extended to 29 centres covering 15 districts of the State. In order to give super speciality treatment to the insured workers, the ESIC has made tie- up arrangement with 68 private hospitals spread across West Bengal.
