Signalling tough competition, Chinese and Taiwanese firms are ready to flood the market with low-priced smartwatches starting $6 which can sense a wide range of body movements and even calculate calories burnt from physical activities.
'We have a dress watch with pedometer that can sense steps walked, calories burnt...starting at $6. The price is low because it has rubber band strap. With metallic, it will cost $11. It stores data of about seven days which can be transfered to a personal computer,' Taiwan-based Utmost Technology Group President Justine Shen said.
