MoS of Home Affairs takes stock of Metro security measures

In the wake of multiple blasts in Brussels, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary on Wednesday visited the Delhi Metro and took stock of the security preparedness of the Delhi Metro system besides visiting the Maintenance Workshop and Training Institute at Shastri Park Depot. 

In his half-day visit to the DMRC, the Minister, accompanied by Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC visited the Patel Chowk Metro station after which he travelled by the Metro train up to Shastri Park via Kashmere Gate. Here, he inspected the security arrangements in place for the interchange of passengers from Line-2 to Line-1 and vice versa. At Shastri Park, he visited the Operation Control Centre (OCC) and Security Control Room. He was apprised about the overall operational control and security management of the Metro network. The Minister reposed trust and satisfaction about the overall handling of the operations and security of such a vast system which carries around 2.6 million passengers daily. The Minister also visited the Shastri Park Depot to see the workshop/ maintenance practices and facilities available at the Training Institute for grooming professionals not only for the Delhi Metro but also for the other upcoming Metros in the country.
