More than a dozen students injured as roof collapses in Gr Noida school

The roof of a private school collapsed on Wednesday leaving over a dozen students between the age of 6-14 injured.

According to the police, the incident was reported at around 9 am when the roof of Durga Public school, Jewar Road, made with asbestos collapsed on students in their classroom leaving a few severely injured. Some others were partially injured. 

The badly injured include Priya (6), Nitin (8), <g data-gr-id="31">Priyanshi</g> (7), Karishma (6) and <g data-gr-id="32">Matsha</g> (6). 

The victims were rescued by the school authority and were admitted to a private hospital where their condition is stable. The district administration has announced penal action against the school authority for negligence during <g data-gr-id="26">initial</g> investigation. 

“It has been informed that few classes were running without <g data-gr-id="29">permission</g> of the education department compromising safety and security of the children,” said Ashok Kumar, Education officer, Gautam Buddh Nagar district.

Senior district officials have <g data-gr-id="21">assured  investigation</g> into the matter and action against guilty persons. 
“We have been enquiring the incident and prima-facie negligence of school authority has unearthed. 
During <g data-gr-id="36">investigation</g>, it has also appeared that <g data-gr-id="37">education</g> department had allowed running of school only till class V, however, they were running classes to class IX. We have also been informed that the roof of the school was damaged and the case is being probed,” said an official.
