Modi to extend campaign in poll-bound states

Modi will campaign for one more day in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and two more days in Delhi, BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, adding there have been several requests from the party units of these states.

In Delhi, where he was seen to be reluctant to associate himself and was earlier scheduled to spend only a day for campaigning, Modi will now dedicate two more days.

Naqvi said Modi was to hold two to three rallies in the national capital on 30 November. However, now he will have a night stay on 30 November and campaign on 1 December as well.
He will also be here on 23 November for a few hours to campaign for the party.

Modi had not attended the Parliamentary board meeting which finalised the name of Harsh Vardhan as BJP’s chief ministerial candidate in Delhi though he had given his consent.

He was keen on this decision as he felt the self- projection of state unit chief Vijay Goel as the face of the party in Delhi was harming the BJP’s electoral prospects, sources said.

Modi also did not attend the central election committee meeting which decided the candidates for Delhi. There were murmurs that he wants to distance himself from the Delhi polls as BJP’s prospects were grim.

The Gujarat chief minister will campaign in Madhya Pradesh for five days now.

Naqvi said he will be in the state, where earlier he was missing from the posters, on 18, 20, 21, 22 and 23 November.

In Chhattisgarh, Modi will campaign on 14 and 15  November.
