‘Modi, Kejri went to Varanasi to wash away their sins’

On the last leg of his election campaign, Congress candidate from West Delhi Mahabal Mishra took pot shots at both BJP and AAP. He also claimed that there is no ‘Modi wave’ in the country.

Taking cognisance of their decision to contest from the holy city of Varanasi, he said that both Modi and Kejriwal have run away to Banaras to wash away their sins. ‘Both Modi and Kejriwal are not contesting election from Banaras. They have gone there to wash away their sins’, Mishra said.

Addressing a gathering at Uttam Nagar in West Delhi, Mishra said that BJP has lost significance as a party and is hoping to achieve victory around a one-man show.

‘There is no Modi wave in the country. It is all a media creation. Will you go up to Modi if you have any problems? I know you will not get swayed away by this media hype,’ he said to the people of Mohan Garden, one of the largest unauthourised colonies of Uttam Nagar.

He further added that ‘Modi wave’ is only restricted to television, otherwise he wouldn’t have contested from two seats. ‘Had there been a Modi wave, why he is contesting from two seats? Is he not sure of winning from one seat, he said to the crowd?’ he asked.

Not limiting his attack just Narendra Modi, he also targeted other senior leaders such as Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley. He said that all senior leaders from the BJP have picked safe seats to save themselves from ‘public humiliation’.

Trading his guns at AAP, Mishra claimed that the party deceived the public by not fulfilling its promises. ‘It made many promises to the people and after 49 days, they ran away, leaving the people of Delhi in a lurch. Is this how you are supposed to run the government’, Mishra added.
