Modi-govt protecting the corrupt at the cost of national wealth: AAP

The AAP on Wednesday came down heavily on the Centre over corruption. The party alleged that people gave the BJP a full verdict against corruption but now, it seems that the Modi government is going all out to hide it rather than intending to fix it. “Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre now, seems to be embarking on its real agenda of protecting the corrupt at the cost of national wealth and precious public money. It is a reason of grave concern that the government at the Centre is purportedly planning to introduce a law to make ministers and officials immune to anti corruption charges. AAP feels that any such move need to be stalled at any cost,” said Ashutosh.

“It has been reported in the media that the BJP led Central government through the Coal Ordinance has introduced controversial clauses which aim to protect corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. It has also been reported that the government plans to introduce a Bill in this regard in the ensuing Parliament session to make it a law. Any blanket immunity to the corrupt will be opposed by the AAP with all its might,” he added.

“After several moves akin to weakening of fight against corruption like the watering down of Delhi Anti Corruption Bureau and delaying the execution of Lokpal Bill, the proposed Act of the government amounts to breach of people’s trust who had voted the BJP to power after many years of pitched anti-corruption movement by the civil society organisations and concerned citizens. These plans expose complete lack of trust and confidence of the Centre in the judiciary and law of the country,” said AAP.
