Mock drill conducted for smooth traffic ahead of Auto Expo

Ahead of two international events at the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida, after the New Year, a mock test to handle smooth traffic movement was conducted here on Friday.

While 600 international delegates including ministers, scientists and ambassadors will take part in the PETROTECH 2014 in January, the city will host Asia’s biggest and world’s second largest Auto Expo 2014 this February. 75,000 visitors are expected to attend the gala exhibition in a day. Undoubtedly, law and order and traffic are the two major concerns for the authority and the city police.

Noida and Greater Noida Authority chairman, Rama Raman, Gautam Budh Nagar SSP, Pritinder Singh, SP traffic Sunita and senior police officials met to discuss the law and order situation.

The parking facility during the Auto Expo has been arranged at the open field of the Convention Centre that is 500m away from the venue. Shuttle services would be provided to visitors from the parking lot to the Expo Mart. In the mock drill on Friday, traffic police checked the route and the ways to maintain a smooth, traffic-free movement of vehicles.

The SSP directed police officials about the steps that are to be taken for maintenance of law and order situation. Rama Raman said, ‘These events are of being conducted on a massive scale. Both PETROTECH and Auto EXpo will bring Greater Noida to the global map and will improve the image of the city. We do not want to leave any stone unturned to make sure they’re run successfully.’
