MLA arrest: AAP cries vendetta, blames Centre

The Delhi Police has categorically denied arresting of the MLA but did not rule out the possibility of his arrest after “investigation” is completed.

“We have not arrested Jarwal so far. We are investigating the case, and once the probe is completed we will question him. If he is found guilty he will be arrested,” said a senior cop.

After Dinesh Mohaniya was arrested in a case of sexual harassment, Jarwal is the second MLA to face similar charges within two weeks. Incidentally, in both the cases complainants were harassed when they approached the MLAs to solve water crisis in their locality.

“The woman who had filed an FIR against him is a member of the Rashtravadi Janata Party. She is like my mother; notice the age difference, if there is any video proof of me misbehaving with her, I will quit politics,” said Jarwal alleging political conspiracy.

“I will completely cooperate with the police with their investigation. I am ready to go to jail,” he added. As per the complaint, the MLA and his supporters misbehaved with the woman when she visited Delhi Jal Board office on June 2 to complain about water crisis in her locality.

The woman, is around 40 years old. She wrote letters to the LG and Delhi Police Commissioner on June 24 which culminated into an FIR on last Wednesday.

“BJP is misusing Section 354 and it is an insult to those victims who have faced such assaults,” said Saurabh Bhardwaj, MLA from Greater Kailash. A case under Sections 354, 506, 509 and 34 of IPC has been registered against Jarwal.
