Missing woman found dead in drain with stab injuries

Body of a 40-year-old woman who reportedly went missing on Sunday evening was found in a drain with multiple stab injuries at a drain in West Delhi’s Ranhola area on Monday morning. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Pinky. Preliminary investigation suggests that she was stabbed seven to eight times.

According to the police, the incident was reported at around 9 am when passers-by found a body floating in a drain in the Baprola area of Ranhola. A team of cops rushed to the spot and with the help of divers fished out the body of the woman.

During investigation, police identified that the woman, Pinky, a small time labourer in the area had gone missing since Sunday afternoon. According to Pinky’s daughter, her mother told her that she is going to Nangloi in search of work.

Police said that when Pinky did not return home till 9 pm on Sunday, her 18-year-old daughter informed her neighbours with whom she approached local police.

According to a police officer, they took the body of the woman to a nearby government hospital where doctors claimed that the woman has been stabbed seven to eight times in the neck and the stomach.

Pinky lived with her daughter in the Ranhola area while her husband, working on agricultural field lived in a village in Uttar Pradesh, added police. Police have registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code at the Ranhola Police station against unknown persons. Further investigation is underway.
