Missing man fished out of Yamuna dead, family allege police apathy

Delhi Police have recovered a body of an eighteen-year-old man from Yamuna river in Wazirabad. The body as identified as Rahul Kumar who went missing from his house three days ago.
Deceased’s family members have alleged foul play and accused a married couple of killing him.
According to the police, the deceased worked as a refrigerator mechanic and lived along with his family in Gokul Puri in northeast Delhi.
Rahul’s family members have accused a family who live in their neighbourhood of killing him. They have held a woman and her husband responsible for his murder, citing an illicit relationship between Rahul and the woman.
However, the police said they are examining the claim of the deceased’s family, following which, they will be able to get a clear picture.
Meanwhile, angry over police apathy, Rahul’s family members and relatives kept his body near Gokul Puri police station and held a demonstration.
They accused the local police of not registering the case following his mysterious death. ‘The crowd blocked the main road which led to traffic chaos in the area for a long while. They were shouting slogans against the Delhi police. Later, they were pacified by the senior cops who assured them a prompt action in the case,’ said the police.
According to the police, Rahul left his house on Tuesday evening but did not return till late night. Later, when his body was fished out of the Yamuna river on Thursday evening, his family was informed. There were no visible injury marks on the body.
