Police claimed that the woman, after being depressed due to family disputes, had decided to depart from her family following which she left home without informing the family members and spend four days at an ashram in another state before appearing in the neighbouring city and informing them about her presence.
“Shipra first informed her husband about her location who later informed police and she was rescued. During interrogating it was revealed that Shipra hatched her own kidnapping plan inspired from a TV show and also from the recent abduction case of Snapdeal’s senior employee Deepti Sarna’s abduction,” said Laxmi Singh, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Meerut range.
According to the DIG, Shipra was unhappy with the heavy loans, debts and property disputes between her husband and father in-law for the last couple of days and was disturbed since. During the last four days of her alleged abduction story, she stayed at an Ashram in Jaipur after she mysteriously left Noida.
She took a bus from Noida and went to Dhaula Kuan from where she boarded a bus to Jaipur via National Highway-8. “Her last location was traced in a house in Sultanpur Village on Jhajjar Road, 30 km from Gurgaon near Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, when she informed about her whereabout to Chetan Malik, her husband, who later informed Noida Police. The police teams also are trying to verify the sequence of her locations and statements. There are no visible marks on her body and also there is no angle of kidnapping found during the investigation,” said Singh.
“While going to Jaipur when she reached near Lajpat Nagar, she also tried to dial 100 — Delhi Police Control Room — to circulate the message that she was going by her own will which did not have any connection to blame her family members for her disappearance but in the meantime her phone ran out of battery,” Singh said.
Shipra told police that she was in deep trauma over the financial condition of her family as her husband, who worked as a local property dealer and earlier worked with a Noida-based builder company, was jobless for the last couple of years after property rates were slashed. The family had a fond of living a lavish lifestyle and were not being able to pay the loan of a luxury car.
“Shipra’s boutique too was not running well for the last few months and she was depressed over it. The couple often indulged in verbal conflicts on every occasion over the re-payment of debts of Rs 75 lakh, following which she decided to stay in a peaceful ambiance for some days,” Singh concluded.
