Missing Arunachal cop traced in Delhi

An Indian Police Service officer posted in Arunachal Pradesh, who went missing on 16 October in the northeastern state, was traced in Delhi, police sources said on Sunday.
‘M S Chauhan is staying somewhere in the national capital. His family members are staying there and he reportedly reached there. We are looking into the matter,’ an Arunachal Pradesh Police officer said by phone.
Delhi Police said they were unaware about Chauhan’s whereabouts. ‘We have not been told about Chauhan by Arunachal Pradesh Police,’ Additional Commissioner of Police AK Ojha said here.
Chauhan, who belongs to the Union Territory cadre and was posted as a senior superintendent of police in Arunachal Pradesh, was appointed by the Gauhati High Court to probe the multi-crore rupee public distribution system scam in the state in 2008.
He allegedly went missing on way from Tippi to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. According to police, he handed over his cellphones to his driver while leaving his official vehicle at Tippi market and asked his staff to wait for him near a river where he was supposed to join them for lunch. He did not turn up and a missing person complaint was filed.
Chauhan was transferred to Delhi on 8 October and was relieved of his duties in Arunachal Pradesh on 10 October. But he did not leave Arunachal Pradesh till 16 October, the Arunachal Pradesh police officer said.
