A mishap was averted due to timely intervention of Railway staff on the Delhi - Rohtak rail section.
A railway staff (Keyman) on duty noticed at 07.40 am that a eucalyptus tree, approximately 80 feet tall had fallen on the tracks between Kharawar and Asthal Bohar railway stations on Delhi - Rohtak Section.
Due to the efforts of Railway staff the track was cleared and rail traffic was restored on the both the tracks at 9.15 am The rail traffic was restored in less than one and half hours, even though overhead electric wires were also damaged .
Approximately one year back the railways had written to Forest Department of Haryana government that eucalyptus trees between Kharawar-Asthal Bohar- Rohtak pose a danger to rail traffic, as these trees are lined on both sides of the track.
After joint survey by the railways and forest department and Haryana government officials, permission was granted by chief conservation forest officer, Haryana Government to divisional forest officer Rohtak in July 2013 for removal of these trees, as they posed a safety hazard to trains passing through this section.
