Miscreants hurl stones at police, constable injured

Unidentified persons near the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in central Delhi pelted stones at police officials, who went for the rescue of a youth who was being beaten up by a mob for alleged theft. An official was injured and a police van was damaged in the incident that took place during the wee hours of Wednesday.
As narrated by police, a religious celebration was going on in the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib from late Tuesday night, when a lady complained of her phone being stolen. A 20-year-old youth, named Babu, was caught for the alleged theft and the mob started beating him. Soon a PCR call was made and police reached the spot.
‘On reaching the spot, we pacified the crowd and arrested the youth who had suffered no serious injuries on account of the beating,’ said a police official. Meanwhile, some miscreants outside the Gurudwara started pelting stone at the police team that had reached the spot. In the incident, a police constable was injured and the PCR van was damaged.
