Minor shoots at sister’s lover, kills friend instead

Two persons, including a juvenile, have been held for killing a youth in Mangolpuri area of Outer Delhi, police said on Friday. The victim’s friend was in relationship with the juvenile’s sister, which  led to the murder, they said. 

‘The accused, Manoj, 22, and Rahul, 16, (names changed) were apprehended for the murder of Tinku on Thursday,’ said BS Jaiswal, deputy Commissioner of police (outer).

On 17 July, the police received a call from Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital that one person with bullet injury had been brought dead. The deceased was identified as Tinku alias Kanwar Pal, a resident of J block in Mangolpuri.

A police team was immediately sent to the spot and investigation was started. ‘One Pradeep of the same area, who claimed to be an eyewitness, said he and Tinku were on way from S-block to J-block on foot when the incident took place.

‘Around 4 pm, a person came on the motorcycle from Y-block side and opened fire. I narrowly escaped but Tinku fell down on the other side,’ said Pradeep.

During investigation,  it was revealed that the accused, Rahul, disliked Pradeep as he had a relationship going on with his sister. The girl concerned even warned Pradeep that her brother might harm him, but he ignored the advice, said a police  official.

After getting the tip-off, police then laid a trap and arrested Manoj from Sultanpuri area on Thursday. During interrogation, he stated that  Pradeep was in love with Rahul’s sister and he was not comfortable with the relationship.

So they hatched a plan to eliminate Pradeep. They then procured a country-made pistol from Baghpat, UP.

On the day of the incident, Pradeep along with the deceased Tinku were going to the market. Immediately, Rahul informed Manoj about Pradeep’s movement. Manoj rushed to Mangolpuri and attacked Pradeep  in front of the blind school, X-block. The bullet hit Tinku instead and he died, said Jaiswal.

The accused had no enmity with the deceased. 

The motorcycle and the pistol used in the crime were recovered from the possession of  Manoj. Rahul was also apprehended from his house, said the official.
