Minor mistake? Juvenile girl held for attempt to murder

Delhi police officials have arrested two persons, including a juvenile girl, in an attempt to murder case. The two are accused of trying to kill a girl in south-east Delhi's Dakshinpuri area on Tuesday evening.
The 17-year-old victim slapped her friend, following a heated argument, when she had gone to pick up her two sisters from school. In the evening, the two accused entered the girl's house and shot at her. The two managed to escape from the spot, but were arrested on Thursday.

One of the accused has been identified as Ashwani Kumar (28), a resident of Sangam Vihar, with a criminal background. The identity of the arrested minor has not been revealed as she is a juvenile.
'After being slapped by the victim, the accused minor narrated the incident to her boyfriend, Ashwani alias Anuwa. Enraged, Ashwani took a country-made pistol and went to the victim's house in the Dakshinpuri area and shot at her,' the official added.

The victim, who received a bullet injury on her neck, is still undergoing treatment at AIIMS hospital.
Ashwani belongs to a poor family and has been living alone in Dakshinpuri to live the extravagant life he wants. He got involved in petty crimes to make easy money. The money he made from pick-pocketing, was spent generously at star hotels and malls. He kept himself armed to intimidate his victims when he took money from them, said P Karunakaran, deputy commissioner of police (south-east).

During interrogation both the accused confessed their involvement in the crime. The weapon with which the victim had been shot at and a live cartridge were recovered from the possession of Ashwani. A search of the crime spot also revealed an empty cartridge, which has been taken into the possession of the police. A case under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused at Ambedkar Nagar police station.
