The Akhilesh yadav Government has ordered a probe into the abduction of CMO of Gonda, Dr SP Singh along with two clerks by Minister of State for Revenue and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Singh alias Pandit Singh.
Chief Medical Officer of Gonda, Dr SP Singh was kidnapped from his Officers' Colony residence by minister and his cohorts and was forced to include names of his associates in the list of contractual doctors.
The incident came to light only after local media highlighted the issue after which Health Minister Ahmed Hassan claimed that he will conduct a probe into the matter and ensured stern action against those found guilty. Pandit Singh, who was minister for medical education in Mulayam's cabinet during last Samajwadi Party's regime is an accused in foodgrain scam along with his family members.
Reports said that Pandit Singh barged inside Dr SP Singh's residence and forced him to include the names of his aides in the list of newly appointed contractual doctors under the National Rural Health Mission. When the CMO said that the entire process of appointment was computerised and his office staff knew the details, the minister again bundled him in his SUV and went to the residences of two clerks, Sanjay Gupta and Manoj Kumar and brought them forcefully to the CMO office to see if there was a hard copy of the list available. Reports said that after finding no papers related to the appointment, the minister alleged to have took all three to the CMO's camp office. Since there was no computer in the camp office, Pandit Singh returned to his own office along with the two clerks to prepare a computerised list of his candidates that can be signed by Singh. Luckily the minister went outside to make some call when CMO taking advantage of the situation called the District Magistrate Abhay and told him about the incident after which ADM CPN Upadhyaya rushed to his rescue.
