Minister dismisses ISIS threat

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday dismissed talks of threat from the Islamic State (IS) to his life or that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Last week, the Goa Secretariat had received an anonymous postcard allegedly from the IS, threatening to kill Modi and Parrikar. When asked about it, Parrikar was dismissive about any threat to him or Modi, saying, "It (the threat) was (issued) on a 50 paise postcard."  The Goa Police have circulated the letter to all police stations in the state and handed over the case to its Anti- Terrorist Squad (ATS ). The police said it will question two government officials who initially went through the letter. "We will have to first record statements of the person who collected the letter and also the one who read it for the first time," a senior police official attached to ATS  said.
