Militants attack CRPF convoy, 6 jawans injured

Six CRPF jawans were injured when some unidentified militants opened fired on their convoy at the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.

The militants fired at a CRPF bus, which was part of the convoy on way to Jammu from Srinagar, near Green Tunnel at Samthan in Bijbehara, 50 km from the state capital, a police officer said. He said six CRPF jawans were injured in the attack.

The injured have been shifted to a hospital in Anantnag, he said, adding that the area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nab the attackers.

In New Delhi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the jawans were out of danger.

"I have spoken to DG CRPF. He apprised me that all are out of danger. A convoy of CRPF was moving from one place to another."  At that time, some militants attacked them. "Six of the CRPF jawans were injured but all are out of danger," he told reporters.
