Miffed with AAP allegations on Gamlin, L-G mulling probe

Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung may soon order an inquiry into the allegations of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi’s Power Minister Satyendra Kumar Jain against senior IAS officer Shakuntala Gamlin. According to sources, the L-G Secretariat has initiated the process to transfer the matter to an independent agency.

“The L-G is miffed with the allegations and an enquiry will soon be ordered into the matter,” said a senior officer. According to sources, the L-G office will soon write to the Delhi Chief Minister to recommend an enquiry into the allegations leveled against the officer. “The allegations of the Chief Minister for ‘lobbying’ and favouring the interest of the power companies prima-facie come under the charges of ‘corruption’ and should be investigated by the competent agency,” said the officer.
Meanwhile, Shakuntala Gamlin has taken over as Acting Chief Secretary and will attend the office on Monday despite protest by the Chief Minster and his cabinet.

Besides, the IAS officers in the city are reportedly agitated against the Delhi government and are planning  to go for a ‘pen drop’ protest. “We are considering to opt for <g data-gr-id="31">one day</g> ‘pen drop’ strike to protest against the unsubstantiated allegations by the ministers and harassment to the senior officers,” said a senior IAS officer. Anindo Majumdar, Principal Secretary of the Services Department of Delhi government who was removed by Delhi Chief Minister, but reinstated by LG said that the matter has been raised with the IAS association. “The office bearers of the IAS association will take a final decision on the ‘pen drop’ strike,” said Majumdar.
