The British parliament has been informed by security services like MI5, MI6 and Scotland Yard that a sharp increase in terrorist activity has made an attack on British soil ‘almost inevitable’ in the coming months.
The biggest threat they said came from British nations who are returning home after fighting for Islamic State (also known as ISIS). Around 600 Britons are believed to have travelled to Syria and Iraq to fight for ISIS. Three hundred are believed to have returned from war-torn Syria, with their movements being closely monitored by security agencies.
The security agencies have intercepted three separate plots in London in the past 12 weeks alone. They have now said that a new breed of volatile extremists radicalized has surfaced.
Armed police on Saturday arrested four Islamic terror suspects in overnight raids, foiling an imminent attack on the Remembrance Sunday parade which was to be attended by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and David Cameron.
