Former union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had on 22 April approved sending of a fresh extradition request regarding Davy to the Denmark government, minister of state for external affairs Gen VK Singh said in a written reply.
Following the decision, DIG and Head of Branch, CBI (SCB) Kolkata has submitted a fresh extradition proposal of Davy to the home ministry on 24 June.
‘The extradition proposal is under examination of the ministry of home affairs,’ Singh said.
The minister said that a meeting between Danish and Indian delegates was held on 7 March last year here to explain the legal position related to the extradition issue.
‘The Danish delegation informed that the Indian government may make a fresh attempt if any new facts had arisen in the case apart from those already brought out in the earlier request made in April 2002,’ he said.
