Metro rail workers dig up Tipu-era cannon

A cannon and a cannon ball belonging to the Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan period was unearthed by the workers belonging Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited during excavation in the busy K R Market area of the city today, ASI sources said.
BMRCL immediately informed the Archaeological Survey Of India here, who took possession of the cannon and the cannon ball weighing 10 kilograms.
‘There is every possibility of finding out such materials belonging to the medieval Bangalore in this part of the city, but unless and until excavation is done, it will not surface’, T M Keshava, Assistant Superintending Archaeologist told reporters.
‘It is now government’s property. It has to decide which museum it should go to’, he said.
