The Delhi Metro museum on Friday organised a puppet-making workshop for underprivileged children at its Patel Chowk station. Over 40 children from different age groups participated in the workshop, in which they designed puppets under the supervision of puppeteers from Kathputli colony.
“A puppet show, informing children about the etiquette of travelling by a Metro train, was also organised on the occasion. The primary objective of the workshop was to create awareness about safe and disciplined Metro travel among children,” said a Delhi Metro official. Through the workshop, the authorities tried to harness the creativity of children. The Metro museum organised the workshop in collaboration with NGO, Arpana.
The children were also taken on a Metro ride and a tour of the Metro Museum was also organised. All participants were given gifts and participation certificates. The event was part of the Metro Museum’s social outreach and CSR activities, under which it keeps organising workshops and visits of children as also senior citizens from all strata of society.
Earlier, too, the museum has conducted workshops for children undergoing treatment for cancer, orthopedically challenged children, senior citizens, etc. Besides this, the Delhi Metro organises puppet shows at schools across the national Capital to generate awareness about Metro travelling etiquette and discipline. More than 130 such shows have been organised so far covering more than 20,000 students.
