The BJP which is already facing a revolt in Uttar Pradesh over the party’s support to reservation in promotion bill in the Parliament has now an added problem with senior party leader and MP from Aonla Lok Sabha seat Menaka Gandhi openly opposing the bill.
‘All the MPs and leaders of Uttar Pradesh are opposed to the reservation in promotion bill and the party high command has all information about it ,’ she said while talking to reporters.
BJP leaders from UP, are openly opposing the reservation in promotion bill and even leaders like Yogi Adityanath and others have even hinted of voting against the bill. State president of UP’s party unit Laxmikant Bajpai has also opposed the Bill.
For the past one week, the government employees opposed to the bill were attacking the BJP state office regularly and yesterday they even pelted rotten eggs, shoes and tomatoes on the office. The employees claimed that the BJP leadership has a dual policy. ‘Many MPs and state leaders have openly said that the reservation in promotion bill was anti-constitutional and could add to society’s miseries. The thoughts of MPs have been communicated to the high command,’ she said.
Meanwhile, condemning the act of rape of a girl on a moving bus in Delhi recently, Gandhi demanded that the culprits should be hanged to death. It should be the only punishment for such crime.
‘Government should act now to make rape a serious offense like murder and quantum of punishment to the accused should not be less than hang to death,’ she further demanded.
Congratulating Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for his landslide victory for the third time in a row, the former union minister refused to speak on whether the party will project Modi as the next prime minister.
‘It should be the decision of the high command to name the PM candidate and no single individual has any right to say on this issue,’ she said.
