The officials have reportedly spoken to the village administration as well and were reported to have sought a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the welfare of the victims and <g data-gr-id="57">re-construction</g> of the lost properties.
The members also directed the officials to arrest those accused of the violence at the earliest and provide full security and compensation to the affected people.
They also asked the officials to shift the people from the police station, where they had been staying, to a more convenient place.
Abdullah asked the officials to file FIRs on individual complaints instead of doing so collectively.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Aditya Dahiya assured the Minority Commission members that adequate steps were being taken to maintain peace in the area.
Efforts are on to nab the accused at the earliest, Police Commissioner Subhash Yadav said.
Even after the violence came under control, a 70-year-old woman was said to be assaulted late on Tuesday night. The woman has been admitted to a hospital.
The violence broke out on <g data-gr-id="72">Monday,</g> when a group of people were attacked while building a mosque which was on a land owned by a minority board since 1972. The land was used as a graveyard for more than three decades and a makeshift shed was being used as a mosque. After it was decided to convert the shed into a concrete single-floor building, a local approached the sessions court following which a stay order was issued to stop any further construction.
In March, however, the court decided in favour of the minority board, resulting in minor confrontations between the two communities.
After assaulting those who were building the mosque, the perpetrators further torched several houses which forced the people to leave their homes and take shelter in a police station. No casualties have been reported. All of them are said to have put up at the police station, 15 <g data-gr-id="58">kms</g> away from their village. Police sources said the process of lodging complaints has begun.
“Presently, we are taking down complaints. We are also identifying the houses that have been burnt down, locating their owners and calculating the extent of losses,” the officer said.
While most of them have been discharged from the hospital by Tuesday morning, police said two who sustained serious burn injuries are still in the hospital.
“We have lodged an FIR under sections pertaining to rioting. We are investigating the matter. Additional forces have been deployed in the village to prevent further violence. We haven’t made any arrests yet but will do so soon,” said Bhupinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Faridabad).
