Delhi government is working on two mega industrial infrastructure development projects in Mundka, Ranikhera and Baprola, a top state bureaucrat said on Sunday.

‘We are coming up with multi-level manufacturing hub at Mundka-Ranikhera, north-west Delhi, spread over an area of approximately 147 acres and a knowledge based industries (KIB) park in Baprola on Delhi Nazafgarh Road, spread over 83 acres,’ Delhi government’s principal secretary for Industries, Shakti Sinha said in his address at CII’s Invest North 2012 Conclave.

Sinha is also Chairman and Managing Director of Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation.

He said that both these projects would be at 10 kms distance and complement each other.

Sinha said electronics component manufacturing, systems testing, IT hardware manufacturing, gems and jewellery manufacturing, semi-conductor manufacturing, bio-technology among others will be done at the Mundka-Ranikhera manufacturing hub.

‘IT services, design and media will be taken care of at Baprola knowledge based industries (KBI) park,’ he said.

Elaborating on the KBI project, he said it would cost around Rs 1,800 crore and provide direct employment to 1 lakh job-seekers and indirect employment to 1.7 lakh people.

‘We will also provide housing units to KBI workers and to economically weaker sections,’ Sinha said.

He said Delhi’s economy has been growing at the rate of 15 percent per annum during the last one decade.

‘Delhi has various advantages which can be leveraged to make it an attractive destination for investments, foremost being connectivity. We however need to upgrade infrastructure to a world class level to bring Delhi into the list of most attractive destinations,’ CII Delhi State Council’s Vice-Chairman Naveen Munjal said.
