After the death of a patient due to the negligence of two doctors of a private hospital in Gurgaon, relatives of the patient destroyed hospital property on Tuesday. Despite police presence, the two doctors managed to escape.
The doctors, identified as R K Mishra and Y S Gautam, have been booked for causing death by negligence under Section 304A of Indian Penal Code. They are absconding.
On Tuesday around 8 am, one Satbir Dahiya, 38, was admitted to Shri Krishan hospital by his brother, as he was suffering from some throat problem since Monday. ‘After a few hours, when I saw that my brother’s condition was getting more worse, I asked the doctor to recommend him to another hospital. But they assured me that his condition was improving,’ said Jai Bhagwan, Dahiya’s brother.
He added when Dahiya was unable to breathe, the doctors asked him to pay the bill first and then take him to another hospital. Meanwhile, Dahiya took his last breath.
As the news spread, nearly 250 people gathered outside the hospital. They said as many as 10 persons have lost their lives in this hospital due to negligence of the doctors. The mob destroyed medical equipment, including x-ray machine, and torched the furniture.
The policemen were unable to control the mob. Later, a senior police official assured the mob of swift action and a complaint was registered against the two doctors. The crowd also blocked the Dhankot road in Sector-4 of Gurgaon.
