MCDs, NDMC gear up for CM’s ‘do it now’ mantra

The “do it now” mantra of Chief  Minister Arvind Kejriwal has left the officials of the MCDs, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Urban Development ministry on their toes. The urgency was enhanced after they were asked to submit presentations by Wednesday on the current status of projects mentioned in their poll manifesto including regularisation and transformation of unauthorised colonies. The party, in its manifesto, had promised to fulfill 70 promises out of which nearly a dozen comes under the domain of civic agencies.

“The Delhi government has ordered to give presentation on various issues related to civic infrastructure. The UD ministry, which regulates the civic agencies, has initiated action on their
behalf.

“The officials of the department along with civic bodies are preparing presentations accordingly,” said Mukesh Yadav, Director (P&I) of South MCD. The officials of other civic agencies also said that they are working on the government’s instructions and status updates would be given accordingly. The AAP, in its manifesto, had promised regularisation and transformation of unauthorised colonies with registration rights with regard to property and sales deeds in resettlement colonies.

Freehold rights in resettlement colonies, in situ development of slums under which dwellers will be provided plots and flats in the same location as the existing slum, build two lakh public toilets, promote rain water harvesting, better waste management, open educational institutes, romp up government schools to provide quality education etc were also promised by the party.
