The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung has reportedly directed the municipal commissioners of the three municipal corporations to follow his earlier order to seal industrial units in non-conforming areas of the city. The decision to roll back the order was taken after the three mayors met LG and urged him to reconsider his earlier decision.
‘The LG has agreed to the request and directed the municipal commissioners to stop or delay sealing till survey and actual status of the units is ascertained,’ said Yogendra Chandolia, mayor of North DMC who lead the seven member delegation.
The delegation demanded that the LG postpone the sealing of industrial units till the proper survey to ascertain the actual position of the units is confirmed whether they are still running in violation of the norms and the relocated places have been provided with the basic infrastructure. The leaders also said that Bhorgarh alone has been relocated with 600 units which lack all the necessary facilities required.
Chandolia further described the plight of some of the owners that many of the units have changed their industries to production units permissible under MPD 2021 in the residential area but are also not spared of sealing. So, he demanded that sealing be stopped till the actual violators are ascertained with present status and to ensure that the basic infrastructure to shift their industries is provided at the place of relocation.
The delegation comprised of mayor the South Delhi mayor, Khusi Ram; Mayor of East Delhi, Menakshi; Deputy Mayor of North Delhi; Ravinder Gupta; Chairman, Standing Committee, North DMC, Mohan Prasad Bhardwaj; Leader of the House, North DMC, Mira Aggarwal; and Deputy Chaiman, Standing Committee, Rekha Gupta.
