Mayor for speeding up of cow shelter issue

Mayor of south Delhi, Savita Gupta on Thursday wrote a letter to the commissioner and asked to immediately release funds for cow shelters. Mayor also issued orders to the Finance Department and Veterinary Department to speed up the process of releasing funds. The above step was taken seeing the plight of the cow shelter, said Gupta.
The issue of bad state of cow shelters was raised in the last meeting of the Standing Committee. It was informed to the Standing Committee that in a cow shelter of Najafgarh, 23, cows died within two days because of insufficient fodder and space.
Mayor mentioned that the orders of Delhi High Court, according to which Corporation has to pay Rs 20 per cow but the Corporation has not provided this fund till date.
