Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that his government is buying laptops for the people while the previous government chose to splurge on statues and monuments.
‘We are expending the money on laptops which the previous Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government did on raising statues,’ said Yadav addressing students who had gathered to receive laptops in Ghaziabad on Monday.
Yadav reminded the youth about the change in stance of the Samajwadi Party on English language. ‘These laptops are in English and will bridge the gap between the students of English medium and Hindi medium schools,’ said the chief minister. He added the laptops will help students in pursuing their studies and make them compete in the job market. ‘I am trying my best to bring in more industries and investment to create more jobs in the state for you,’ added Yadav.
Departing from the scheduled programme of distributing laptops to select 50 students on stage, the chief minister went into the crowd and distributed laptops to over a hundred girl students. A total of 8,074 laptops were distributed to 5,598 students from Ghaziabad and 2,476 students from district Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida and Greater Noida). These students are now in first year in various colleges in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.
