May I help you?

We all believe strongly, that we need to bring about a change. We see things going wrong each day. And we truly feel that a change needs to be brought by someone. But when asked if we ourselves can bring about this change, we have often given an excuse saying that we have a lot of work to do, and a lot of things to sort at our professional front. We are busy.

But here we have a group of young working professionals who have taken the responsibility to bring about a change in the society. They have taken out time from their busy schedules to change what has been bothering them. TOLI Theatre Group, a unit of NGO Lion Society for Art and Social Welfare, is a group of Young working professionals, continuously creating awareness through Film and Theatre since 15 September 2006.

The tragic death of Manohar Lal Sharma, 77, who left his Vasant Kunj residence on 30 May, 2013 was found dead in Sangam Vihar five days later. Suffering from dementia, he couldn't find his way back home. A callous city killed him. No one asked him, ‘Uncle, are you lost? Do you need help?’ And there was no pyaau, where one could get free drinking water, anywhere. What happened to this patient must not happen to anyone else.

The tragic incident with Sharma’s family inspired the team to come forward and make the people of the city awaken, with their new Hindi street play May I Help You?, written and directed by Rajeev Sinha. TOLI Theatre Group started performing the play every Sunday in different Societies, Malls or Apartments with a hope to spread awareness in a self motivated and ignorant society. Go, take a look and do your bit.
