Maurya hits back at Mayawati, tells her to disclose tainted records

Launching a scathing attack on Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, former BSP leader Swamy Prasad Maurya asked her to disclose her tainted records. Maurya hit back at Mayawati, after she called him a 'traitor' saying that “she was scared of him."

Maurya called the BSP as "the ticket selling factory". He quit the party after there was a tug-of-war on the ticket distribution for the 2017 Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

Just after his resignation in the last week, Mayawati accused him of demanding party tickets for his family members in a press conference. She said, “The people and the party will never forgive him. People have been calling to say that it's great that a traitor has quit. We will never forgive him or give him a re-entry into the party." However, Maurya has rubbished the allegation. He told Millennium Post on Sunday that, “I never asked for ticket for my relatives. It is her close aides who are getting the opportunity. I have always served the party and worked for the backward communities. But she has taken the credit."

Meanwhile, a political buzz prevailed after his resignation that the senior politician might join the ruling Samajwadi Party. But Maurya also launched an attack on the SP’s top leadership by saying that, "It is party of Gundas (Yeh Gundoki party hai)". Reacting to his remark, the senior SP leader Shivpal Yadav countered Maurya and claimed that "He has lost his mental balance with his age."

Maurya’s sudden rebellion against BSP chief Mayawati created ripples in UP's politics. Sources said the former BSP leader was in touch with BJP general secretary Om Mathur. He also held few meetings with the top saffron party functionaries and sought to be projected as BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming polls. However, BJP rejected his demand. Earlier this week, Maurya met the BJP top brass in Delhi, sources said. He confirmed that he has called for a meeting with his party aides and executives, who have supported him, on July 1. Then they will decide whether to join any other party (without naming BJP) or to form a separate one.
