Matrimonial disputes have assumed alarming proportions in the national capital and such discords affect families on both sides, the Delhi High Court has said. “It has become common place for matrimonial disputes to assume alarming proportions in the city of Delhi and the flames raised with such discord engulf entire families on both the sides,” Justice Siddharth Mridul said. The court observed this while granting pre-arrest bail to the uncle of a woman whose in-laws had lodged an FIR under various sections of the IPC including house-trespass, theft in dwelling house and common intention against her, her mother and her uncle. It observed that the present proceeding is a “counterblast to the complaint of domestic violence filed by a woman against her husband and in-laws”.
