Maternal uncle, two others, held for siblings’ murder in Delhi

A day after the decomposed bodies of two minor siblings, who were kidnapped from school, were found by a taxi driver near the Ring Road-Bhairon Road Crossing, three persons including the deceased’s maternal uncle were apprehended by the police. One suspect is still absconding.

The family of the victims are in shock after they got the information that Amit Singh, a distant brother of Yogita (mother of the siblings) hatched the conspiracy followed by kidnapping and murder of the children, Mansij (7) and Yashvi (5), for Rs 30-lakh ransom.

Prabhakar, deputy commissioner of police (east), said: ‘The three arrested persons have been identified as Amit Singh (22), Pankaj Kashyap (19) and Shivam Gupta (19). All three of them were nabbed from their hideouts in east Delhi’s Mandawali area. The fourth accused has been identified as Abhishek.’ He added that Amit knew that Manoj Kumar Chahar, the father of the murdered children, was going to get Rs. 30 lakhs from some property that he  planned to sell. He made a plan to kidnap the duo and extract the money as ransom. ‘Amit Singh needed Rs.6 lakh for a deal in Mandawali and Pankaj needed money to pay a Rs.1.50-lakh debt. Shivam and Abhishek needed money to meet their lavish lifestyle,’ the police said.
