Manish Sisodia asked to clear rent worth Rs 1.99 lakh for govt flat

The city administration has issued a notice to Aam Aadmi Party’s senior leader Manish Sisodia asking him to pay outstanding rent worth Rs 1.99 lakh for the government flat in which he had stayed till 3 June.

He was allowed to stay till 30 May in the government flat in Mayur Vihar Phase II and the administration’s Public Works Department has issued a notice to vacate the flat on 22 May. He complied with the notice and vacated the government house on 3 June.

According to the norms, the Public Works Department allows ministers to stay in the official flats and bungalows for 15 days from the day they resign without any rent. After fifteen days, PWD charges rent from the concerned government representative.

It has been found that Sisodia has not paid the rent from March onwards.  The outstanding rent is Rs 1.99 lakh.

In the meantime, former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has been asked to vacate the government house by 31 July. It is believed that he plans to move back to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
