The main accused in the murder of former Najafgarh MLA Bharat Singh, Udaiveer alias Kala, lodged in Tihar Jail, died of a heart attack on Wednesday. According to the jail authorities, the 42-year-old under-trial prisoner had complained of uneasiness and difficulty in breathing at around 12.20 pm
“Lodged in jail number 1 since July 18, 2015, Udaiveer complained of uneasiness and difficulty in breathing. He was attended to by a doctor and was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital where at around 12.45 pm he died of heart attack,” said Mukesh Prasad, Additional Inspector General, Tihar Jail.
Meanwhile, police officers investigating the matter said that since Udaiveer was a heart patient and had a bypass surgery few years back, he was shifted to DDU hospital four days back.
However, when his condition improved, he was shifted back to the prison on Tuesday. It was only on Wednesday morning that he started complaining of health complications.
“We have shifted the body to Lady Hardinge hospital where post-mortem will be conducted on Thursday. His family was raising suspicion on his death but after they saw his body, they denied any foul play,” said an Investigating Officer.
