Man thrashed, robbed off Rs 60,000 in Greater Noida

In an alleged case of road rage in Greater Noida, a man was thrashed and subsequently   robbed while on his way home on Monday evening.

The incident occurred near Amrapali crossroads where the victim, identified as Jitendra Arya, was returning home in his car late on Monday. The police said unidentified assailants brushed passed his car and then stopped him. He had a heated argument with the assailants who began to hurl abuses at him.

‘One of the assailants held him at gun-point and two others thrashed him badly. The assailants
robbed Rs 60,000 cash from him. ‘In a bid to escape, the victim jumped off the fencing of the road and landed in the bushes. When he shouted for help, the assailants fled the spot,’ said a senior police official.

The police added that the assailants demanded the keys of his car.

What appeared to be a big achievement for the victim was the fact that he was able to save Rs 1 lakh that he had kept in his pockets. Some passers-by stopped for help and called the police. He is admitted to Kailash hospital with minor bruises and injuries.

‘Following the complaint of the victim, we have lodged an FIR against unidentified persons. A team has been formed to investigate the case,’ the official added.
