Man suffering financial crisis kills wife and son

A man suffering from a personal financial crisis, allegedly killed his wife and 6-year-old son at Sultan Puri on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Mukesh Kumar (33), was tracked down and arrested while he tried to commit suicide.
The victims – his wife Lata (28) and son Divanshu (6) – were allegedly strangulated by Mukesh, who was going through a severe financial crisis leading to frequent fights with his wife. The family resides at Sultan Puri in the outer fringes of the national capital. Mukesh was arrested soon, said Vikramjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer district).
As narrated by the police, the accused is a property dealer who frequently lent and borrowed money to and from other property dealers and money lenders in the city. For quite some time, he was in a financial crisis because of some large debts he had suffered and the interest money he owed to various money lenders which led to frequent fights in the family.
After a violent confrontation on late Tuesday night that lasted till the next morning, he allegedly strangulated his wife and son.Â
After that, he left the crime scene with a note where he admitted to have killed his family, mentioning the reason behind the crime and also saying that he was going to commit suicide, said a police official.
