Man stabs brother to death over property dispute in Uttam Nagar

The incident took place on Friday afternoon when a heated argument took place between the siblings at their residence in Mohan Garden in Uttam Nagar. The argument turned violent and the Anil Gupta (48), a mechanic in the area stabbed his brother Sushil Gupta, a dye-maker, to death.

When Sushil became unconscious, his family members rushed him to a nearby private hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the accused Anil made a call to the police control room and informed that his brother was accidentally injured during a scuffle between the duo. When a police team reached the hospital, the doctors told them that the victim was pronounced dead on arrival and had a deep wound on his neck.

Initially, it seemed that the accused tried to slit his throat and the excessive blood loss had caused his death, said a doctor at the hospital.

Sushil was apprehended from the hospital premises and has been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. A case has been registered at Uttam Nagar police station. During investigation it was learnt that the duo were having a dispute over property distribution among themselves from past few months.

Further investigation is underway, the police official said adding that the other family members are also being questioned.  So far no clean chit has been given to them as they are suspected to be involved in the criminal conspiracy to wash out the victim’s presence in the property distribution, the officer added.
