Man shot at by bikers, cops speculate personal enmity

A 48-year-old man was shot by two unidentified bike borne assailants near his house in Hauz Qazi area of Central Delhi’s Chawri Bazaar area late Monday night. Senior police officers have not ruled out the possibility of personal enmity as one of the reasons behind the attack.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 11.45 pm at Chawri Bazaar area when the victim, Mehtabuddin went out for a stroll near his house.  While he was walking, two bike borne assailants came and fired at him. One of the bullets hit his thigh. After firing two rounds, the duo fled the spot.

Police further said that on hearing gun shots, neighbours and family members of Mehtabuddin informed the police following which he was taken to a nearby hospital. He is said to be out of danger.

“We have registered a case of attempt to murder under Section 307 of the IPC and further investigation is on,” said a senior police officer of the Central District.
