Man shoots woman dead, tries to kill self

A 40-year-old woman was shot dead while a man was critically injured at the Bonta Park situated in Maurice Nagar area of North Campus on Tuesday night. Police found an Eeco car outside the Bonta Park allegedly belonging to the man and a pistol from the spot where their bodies were found.

According to police, the incident took place at around 8.25 pm when a man identified as Navin (28) fired at the woman identified as Anjali. After firing at Anjali, Navin shot himself. A passer-by heard the gunshot and made a PCR call. The police, meanwhile, rushed them to Hindu Rao Hospital where the woman was declared brought dead while the man is undergoing treatment. A case has been registered at Maurice Nagar police station under relevant sections of the IPC against unknown persons. Police have started investigation and are trying to establish the exact sequence of events.
