Man shoots at parents over property dispute in Dwarka

A 26-year-old man allegedly shot at his parents after a heated argument over a property dispute in Dwarka on Monday, police said.    

The accused, identified as Amit, used to stay with his family at a posh residential complex. Both the parents Brahm Prakash (49) and Savita Devi (45) were admitted to a private hospital in Gurgaon. Doctors said both the victims were out of danger.   

Brahm, who is the father of three sons, owns three liquor shops in Haryana. He stays in an apartment in <g data-gr-id="29">Dwarka,</g> while his two other sons — Sumit and Puneet — stay in another apartment.  

The incident took place around 12.30 pm when Amit’s parents visited his house to have a discussion over some property issue. After seeing his parents from the balcony of his <g data-gr-id="28">first floor</g> apartment, Amit started shouting at them. 

According to police, the argument continued for a few minutes and in the meantime, Amit rushed inside his room and returned with a gun. He allegedly fired several rounds of bullets at them and fled the scene.  

“Brahm Prakash received two bullet injuries — one in his hip and the other in the thigh. Whereas, one of the bullets hit Savita’s leg. By that time, other residents reached the spot and called up police control room,” RA Sanjeev, Dy Commissioner of Police (South-West) said.

A police team admitted the couple to a nearby hospital and later they were shifted to a private hospital in Gurgaon. Both the victims were out of danger after an operation, a police officer said. After recording the statements of the victims, the police have registered a case against Amit under Section of <g data-gr-id="25">attempt</g> to murder. “A police team is conducting a search operation to arrest Amit. The exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained,” another police official said.
