Man robbed of jewellery, cash; killed by robbers

Through the naked eye it may seem to be an attack to rob of 25-year-old Uday Bhaan of the jewelley and cash he was carrying but something tells us there is more to it.

Sources said that Uday had a fight with his cousin brother following which he stashed a bag with some jewelley, cash and some important documents and left the house for Sarai Rohilla railway station.

According to the police, Uday was going towards Sarai Rohilla railway station in an auto when unidentified men stopped him and robbed him. Police are scanning through the CCTV footage of the nearby jewellery shops and banks to establish the exact sequence of events to ascertain the identity of the culprits.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 1.30 am near one HG Jewellers when Uday was heading towards the Sarai Rohilla railway station. A native of Uttar Pradesh, Uday was to board a train at 4 am from the station to reach his native place when three men attacked him.

Meanwhile, Parmaditya, DCP, Central, confirmed that the cousin brother of Uday was being interrogated, possibly because the cops too have smelt his role in getting his brother killed and stealing the jewellery and cash.

A team of police reached the spot when one of the guards of HG Jewellers informed them about a man lying in a pool of blood near the footpath. On inspection, police were able to establish the identity of the victim through the railway ticket found in his pocket.

Sources said that Uday worked in a private company. It was only after Uday’s cousin identified him and also informed that the bag full of cash and jewellery was missing that police added sections of robbery.

Police said that they have sent Uday’s body for post-mortem to a nearby hospital and are trying to get in touch with his family. Preliminary investigation suggests that Uday was stabbed twice in the stomach.

“A case of robbery and murder has been registered at the Deshbandhu Gupta Road police station under relevant sections of the IPC against unknown persons,” said a senior police official.

An investigating officer said that they are trying to scan through the CCTV footage of the nearby jewellery shops and banks to establish the exact sequence of events and to ascertain the identity of the culprits. So far, police have not identified any of the accused in the robbery-cum-murder case.
