BJP president Amit Shah called for a guard against ‘Machiavellian Politics’ and asked the people of India and party workers to unite in bringing about ‘Surajya’ (good governance) in the country.
Speaking at the BJP National Council meet at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Shah said: ‘Some of our opponents are yet to reconcile to their humiliating defeat in the polls and are currently engaged in forging an unholy alliance of non-BJP parties. They are bewildered and not able to come to terms with the realities of the electoral outcome.’
He added: ‘We must guard against this Machiavellian political tactics and frustrate their designs. For long, Congress vichar (ideology) has been pre-dominant in the country’s politics. Now, it is time to ensure that our vichar has an imprint on the nation’s politics.’
Shah, who was ratified to the post of BJP president, called for complete ‘saffronisation’ of India as an immediate priority and said: ‘Let us resolve as workers of the BJP that we will commit ourselves in providing Surajya or good governance to every Indian citizen. We can only bring Surajya, if we work to establish a BJP or a BJP-led government from Jammu & Kashmir to Kerala and from Gujarat to Nagaland.’
Reiterating his restlessness that the BJP needs to win assembly elections, where they are not in power, Shah stated: ‘There are many challenges ahead of us. We, now, have to establish victory in the forthcoming assembly elections, which are due in Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra. We have to accept the challenges of forming our government in all these states. I repeat, in all these states.’
The party president stressed for re-capturing power in eight other states. He said: ‘We must form our governments whenever elections are held in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. Also, we will have to make special efforts to win elections and form our governments in states like Assam, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu where we have got significant percentage of votes.’
He added: ‘While our top leadership will ensure good governance at the Centre, all of us will have to commit ourselves to the most challenging task of winning the assembly elections. We need absolute majority in all these states. We need to ensure victory in all elections, be it in panchayats or assemblies. We need to develop the habit of winning in all elections,’ he added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Shah’s efforts during the stupendous performance of the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections and called him the ‘man of the match’. Modi declared Home Minister and former BJP president Rajnath Singh as the captain of his team and thanked the latter for the crucial role that he had played in leading the party to victory in the last general elections.
