Man kills 7 members of family, commits suicide

A 36-year-old farm labourer allegedly killed seven of his family members, including his one-year-old grand-daughter, before committing suicide at Nani <g data-gr-id="14">Kosamdi</g> village on Sunday.

According to Valsad police control room in-charge Karansinh Parmar, a team of local police including Dharampur police inspector Chirag <g data-gr-id="19">Tandel</g> had reached the spot and started the investigation.Shravan <g data-gr-id="20">Kanar</g> (36) allegedly killed his wife Shanta, two sons, three daughters and one-year-old grand-daughter at his house.

“Primary investigation revealed that all of them were hacked to death by Shravan with a sickle, who then committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling. He worked as a farm labourer. We are yet to find out the reason behind the act,” said inspector <g data-gr-id="15">Tandel</g>.Apart from his wife Shanta (35), other victims were the couple’s son Akshay (15) and Viral (12), daughters Yamuna (19), <g data-gr-id="16">Hemku</g> (17) and Sheela (14), and Yamuna’s <g data-gr-id="17">daughther</g> Priti (1). “<g data-gr-id="21">Yamuna</g> is married, but she had come to live at her father’s house recently with her daughter Priti. Shravan might have got married at an early age,” said <g data-gr-id="18">Tandel</g>.
